The following are the snippets from an exclusive interview with Women Entrepreneur, wherein Hasumati takes us through the various facets of her entrepreneurial journey.

What Inspired You To Embark On The Entrepreneurial Venture And How Has Been The Journey So Far?

I am B.A. graduate and LLB (Gold Medalist) in Gujarati language. My father was a Civil servant and he always encouraged me to become independent and do something in consultancy domain and prove worthful to society. My father helped me thoroughly in a great way- teaching me consultancy skills, market observation skills and knowledge to judge people, so that I could help them suitably as per their requirement. Hence, ignited by my passion and parent’s support, I was quite determined to fulfil my dream of becoming self-sufficient and independent, hence I ventured as a financial consultant entrenching Soni Financial Services (2009), a proprietor firm in the Finance domain. I didn’t have any prior experience in the finance advisory domain, but in my LLB I had come across 2-3 topics related to tax & finance, and it was then I started developing interest in finance gradually.

Hence, I chose this domain as I wanted to appraise society through financial advisory services, aiding them in whatever prospects I could for people’s golden future. We are consulting in the Bank Loan (Mortgage Loan, Business Loan, Machinery Loan, Factory Loan, Loan on Agriculture land, Agriculture project, subsidies project, others and many more in Bank & NBFC Finance), Project Finance, Turkey Projects, Agriculture projects, Financial Investment Consulting, and more. We are also consulting in cold storage projects (in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, U.P, M.P.), Ripening projects, and others. Engaged is serving each and every individual and corporate person in India, Soni Financial services consultancy works on fee-based model. I was always supported by my family be it my husband or mother-in-law they were all on the front-foot supporting, motivating and helping me climb up the ladder to success. It is God’s grace that I am still growing bit by bit.

The companies that support me for technology of cold storage and agro process cluster and Megha Food Park, and project loan also support. And now my dream is to start a food industry in Gujarat, for which I’m working on it, and in very short time, it will complete from supports of my team and my family and icon freshtop.

What Is Your Role As The Financial Consultant At Soni? Please Tell Us About Your Team And How Do You Leverage Your Experience To Lead Them.

As the proprietor and financial consultant at Soni, I am concerned with all the finance-related advisory where clients seek my advices for home finance, business start-up, & more, MSME industries tend to me for legal advices (certification, registory, land buying and more), and many others. I help them by assisting them procure loans from my collaborated banks like Axis, HDFC, ICICI, Nagrik Bank, Mehsana Urban Bank, SBIs, Bank of Baroda, Bank of India and some NBFCs like Mahindra Finance, Shri Ram Finance, Muthoot Finance, & Cholamandalam Finance. Letting them know about the best rates of land and property to help them in matters of buying and selling property. We do a thorough research so as to leverage the optimum standard services.

At Soni, we are a team of 35 proficient professionals which comprises of three Chartered Accountants, five to six accountants, three system engineers, 10-15 advisory executives and other staffs.

What Were The Challenges Encountered In Your Journey That Taught You The Basic Lessons Of The Life? Please Tell Us About The Leadership Traits.

Just like every other entrepreneur I also had to face my fair share of challenges along my journey with Soni. Many times were there which actually left me discouged enough to walk out of the business as the functions were leading very slowly, payments remained pending from client’s end, client projects’ accomplishments used to take much time in accomplishing and much more. My background not mirroring my business domain also at times instilled skepticism in me. However, I never let my guard down and overcame all the challenges. In fact, my training experiences acquired from LIC (consultant and advisor), HDFC Life Insurance (life insurance, Group Finance (advisor), Rajkot Nagrik Bank, and many more, including my seniors & peers guidance were very instrumental in steering the operations at Soni.

Women Consultants In The Finance Industry Is Quite A Rarity. How Do You Feel To Be One Of The Advisory Leader Assisting Many Clients At Soni Financal Services?

With the complexity in the value derivation and several other challenging issues women may find it critical of an endeavour to subside as an entrepreneur in the financial consultancy. But, I would rather like to state that if you feel the zeal to do something nothing can stop you. And, as an advisory leader in finance domain I feel quite honoured to hail in this industry with no experience but lot of self-confidence. I feel proud to be able to help people recover from their financial shortcomings, legal challenges, and more. Also, in the times of COVID when many people have lot their jobs, families are struggling due to financial instability, I want to prove useful to them by coming to any use of them respective of financial advisory.

With the complexity of the value chain and several rounds of commissions, the artisans often struggle to make their living out of it, while they deserve much more than that.
