Mithali Raj will come out of Retirement for Women's IPL

Former India skipper Mithali Raj will come out of retirement for the Women’s IPL which is expected to be played from the first week of March. There have been a lot of activities ahead of the first Women’s IPL. The names of the five participating teams are expected to be released in the last week of January.

Mithali’s participation will provide the tournament a spurt of energy since she is one of the most loved female Indian cricketer across the country. Mithali is the face of women’s cricket in India. She has retired from international cricket in June 2022 but had mentioned that she might be back for the Women’s IPL.

Public awareness campaign to be launched by Chandigarh Welfare Trust to Mend city's sex ratio

The "Dheeyan Di Lohri" was organized by the Chandigarh Welfare Trust (CWT) at Maloya Pind to continue to encourage education for girls and women's empowerment among the locals. Satnam Singh Sandhu, founder, and chief executive officer of the Chandigarh Welfare Trust and chancellor of Chandigarh University, officially opened the event.

The goal of the celebration's theme was to draw attention to the necessity of raising general knowledge of the sex ratio and gender equality. Additionally, he introduced the Rs. 10 lakh Kalpana Chawla Scholarship for Chandigarh 10+2 students who desire to continue their education and are from less advantaged backgrounds. Ten city girls will receive this scholarship each year as financial aid to help them pursue their dreams of attending college.

The French Film Festival in India to screen five works by Female Directors

A two-week French Film Festival that celebrates women filmmakers' significant contribution to French cinema made its debut at New Delhi's India Habitat Centre (IHC). The "Women Directors from France" film festival, which is scheduled to begin on January 9, 2023, is being organised by the French Embassy in India and the French Institute in India (IFI). It will feature the screening of five films by women directors.

The festival seeks to highlight the many and talented voices of women in the film industry by featuring both established and up-and-coming directors. The roster features a wide variety of genres and styles, from thought-provoking documentaries to devastating dramas. The festival will also hold panel discussions and Q&A sessions in addition to the movie screenings.

Indian Women's Hockey Team registers Stunning victory against South Africa

The Indian women's hockey team defeated South Africa 5-1 in the opening match of the four-game series.

Padma Shri Prabhaben Shah passes away at age 92

At the government hospital in Daman on Wednesday, Prabhaben Shah, a case manager from Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman, and Diu, passed away. She had received the Padma Shri honour. She was 92.

On Thursday in the late afternoon, Daman will host the final rituals. Prabhaben was taken by ambulance to the medical clinic on Wednesday morning after having respiratory issues and heart-related disorders. However, due to age-related ailments and cardiac issues, she died suddenly in the afternoon.

Indian Army to Upgrade 108 women to full Colonel status for command positions

The Indian Army has chosen to elevate 108 women officers currently holding the rank of lieutenant colonel to colonel as part of a significant push to provide equal opportunity for women in the military. 

The promotion of so many female officers to the level of Army Colonel is a very unique process. To all female officers who have been elevated to the rank of colonel this month, the army will also issue a postings order on command assignment.
