Lam Tantiya Kumari has taken oath as the newly appointed president of the Andhra Pradesh Mahila Congress. The swearing-in ceremony was held at the Andhra Ratna Bhavan in the presence of party members and leaders. Addressing the gathering, Kumari expressed her deep concern over the 'growing atrocities' against women in the State, emphasizing the pressing safety issues that women of all ages are facing.

As the event's chief guest, Netta D'souza, the All India Mahila Congress president, raised her voice against Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy's actions towards women's welfare, expressing disappointment in his approach. She pointed out that the late Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, Jagan Mohan Reddy's father and former Chief Minister, had done commendable work for women, and it was disheartening to witness a reversal of those efforts.

Gidugu Rudra Raju, the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president, emphasized the party's commitment to women's empowerment. He stressed that true women's empowerment would only be realized when the Congress comes into power and pledged support for Kumari's leadership.

Tulsi Reddy, the Congress media cell chairman, and former Rajya Sabha member, made a significant announcement during the ceremony. If Congress comes to power, the party promises to make cooking gas cylinders available at a highly affordable price of ₹500. He urged all party members, especially women functionaries, to take this slogan to every doorstep in the State and raise awareness about the failures of the YSRCP (Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party) and TDP (Telugu Desam Party).

During the event, the attendees paid tribute to the renowned revolutionary singer and activist Gummadi Vittal Rao, affectionately known as Gaddar, who passed away recently. The members observed two minutes of silence to honor his contributions to social causes and activism.

Lam Tantiya Kumari expressed her gratitude towards the party members for reposing faith in her leadership. She vowed to work diligently and tirelessly to address the pressing issues faced by women in Andhra Pradesh and strive for their empowerment and safety.

The appointment of Lam Tantiya Kumari as the president of the Andhra Pradesh Mahila Congress marks a significant step towards gender representation and empowerment in the political landscape of the State. Her commitment to raising concerns over women's safety and well-being reflects the urgency of addressing these issues and creating a safer and more inclusive environment for women in Andhra Pradesh. The Congress party's promises and initiatives also demonstrate their dedication to advancing women's rights and advocating for their welfare and progress.
