The new cabinet of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which will be announced this evening, will include 14 ministers under the age of 50. According to government sources, it will have a perfect balance of castes, regions, and experience. To anchor and guide their departments, the rainbow cabinet will have ministers who are seasoned administrators – 46 have experience in the Central government, four are former Chief Ministers, and 18 are former ministers in state governments.
The ministerial council will also include a diverse range of experienced professionals, including 13 lawyers, six doctors, five engineers, seven civil servants, seven with research degrees, and three with business degrees. There will be 11 female ministers from nine different states.
The reshuffle announced today is the first of PM Modi's second term. The Union Cabinet currently has 53 ministers, with a maximum of 81 members. Former Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, former Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia, and Narayan Rane are among the likely candidates.
The reshuffle comes after the Prime Minister conducted a thorough performance evaluation of the ministers. According to sources, Kiren Rijiju and Hardeep Singh Puri are likely to be promoted as a result of it.
There will be a total of 12 Scheduled Caste ministers in the new ministry, representing eight states: Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Karnataka, Rajasthan, and Tamil Nadu. Two of the ministers will be appointed to the cabinet. Furthermore, 27 of the ministers are from Other Backward Classes, with five of them serving in the cabinet.
There will also be a record eight Scheduled Tribes ministers, three of whom will be in the cabinet, from Arunachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, and Assam.
The new ministry is also cross-community in nature. There will be one Muslim minister, one Sikh minister, one Christian minister, and two Buddhist ministers. Three cabinet ministers are members of religious minorities.
