Prime Minister Narendra Modi provided the facts of several articles concerning the government's women empowerment initiatives.

Sharing a series of MyGov tweets, PM Modi said, “You will enjoy reading these articles on how a new paradigm is being created to further empowerment of women. These efforts cover diverse sectors and have ensured more dignity as well as opportunities for women. #8YearsOfWomenEmpowerment.”

He also provided detailed information on the government's efforts to empower women around the country.

“Recognising the importance of our #NariShakti as the harbinger of our bright future, here is how the government is celebrating Ghar ki Lakshmi- Betiyan (ghr kii lkssmii – bettiyaaN) and ensuring women-led development during the Amrit Kaal,” MyGovIndia had tweeted.

The tweets by MyGovIndia further remarked that with the 8 years of Women Empowerment “The government has furthered the spirit of ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ and tried to create a discrimination-free & opportunity-filled environment for the girls” and “A big shift in empowering women through reforms has resulted in giving them wings to fly to newer heights”.

The hashtag 8 years of women's empowerment represents the BJP's 8 years in power at the federal level, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

On May 30, the BJP finished eight years in office and held a series of events across the country to celebrate the accomplishments of the government's key initiatives.

The party planned to host several events across the country from May 30 to June 14 to commemorate the occasion.

1020 Women Per 1000 Men

The National Family Health Survey (NFHS) fifth edition verified evidence of a demographic transition in India. For the first time since the NFHS began in 1992, women outnumbered men, with 1,020 women for every 1,000 men.

In the most recent poll, 991 women were found for every 1,000 men in 2015-16.

The sex ratio at birth for children born in the last five years has only improved slightly, from 919 per 1,000 males in 2015-16 to 929 per 1,000, indicating that boys continue to have better survival rates than girls on average. According to the NFHS-5, there were more women than men in most states and union territories (UTs).

26 Weeks Paid Maternity Leave

According to a new rule, women will be able to take paid maternity leave for a total of 26 weeks, up from the previous 12 weeks.

President Pranab Mukherjee has signed the Maternity Benefit (Amendment) Act, 2017, which modifies some elements of a 55-year-old statute that grants women employees certain perks.

Every business with fifty or more employees must have a creche within a certain distance, according to the new regulation.

According to the statute, every institution must notify every woman in writing and electronically at the time of her initial appointment about every advantage accessible under the new law.

After a woman has taken maternity leave, her company may allow her to work from home.

2.7 crores plus Accounts of Sukanya Samrudhi

Sukanya Samriddhi Account (Girl Child Prosperity Account) is a government-sponsored savings programme for parents of girl children. The programme encourages parents to set up money for their female child's future education.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the scheme on January 22, 2015, as part of his Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign. The scheme now offers a 7.6% interest rate (for the April-July 2021 quarter) as well as tax benefits. Any India Post office or licenced commercial bank branch can open the account.

On December 12, 2019, the Sukanya Samriddhi Account Rules, 2016 were repealed, and the new Sukanya Samriddhi Account Scheme, 2019 was implemented.

9 crore+ free LPG Connections under PM UJJwala Yojana

The Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) was introduced by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas with the goal of connecting BPL households to LPG. You can get Rs.1600 for each connection, as well as an interest-free loan to buy a gas stove and replenish the cylinder, under the scheme. The administrative costs of the LPG connection will be covered by the government.

68% of PM Avas Yojana Women Beneficiaries are Women

The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) is a government of India initiative that intends to provide affordable housing to India's urban poor by 2022. On June 1, 2015, the programme was officially started. The PMAY scheme has an interest rate that starts at 6.50 percent per annum and can be used for up to 20 years.

Permanent Commission for Women Officers

The creation of a permanent commission for female officers is now a reality. The Ministry of Defence has issued an official Government Sanction Letter granting women officers in the Indian Army permanent commissions (PC).

DIRECTIVE OF THE SUPREME COURT: This will pave the road for more women officers to take on larger positions in the Army. Women officers were granted permanent commissions and command posts by the Supreme Court earlier last year.

Sainik Schools Open For Girls

The proposal for female students to be admitted to Sainik School in 2020-21 has been approved by the Defence Ministry. There are 27 Sainik Schools operating in India; previously, only male candidates were permitted to enrol in these schools; however, the Defence Ministry has approved the entrance of female students to Sainik schools. As a result, our defence minister has made a fantastic choice in favour of gender equality.
