In order to provide professional training to women entrepreneurs who wish to begin their entrepreneurial careers as well as a mentoring programme for current women entrepreneurs looking to scale up their businesses, the National Commission for Women has partnered with the Centre of Excellence for Social Innovation (CESI) of the Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode.

The Commission has created an online training programme to give women entrepreneurs access to the knowledge and skills needed to expand and sustain their entrepreneurial businesses as part of its endeavour to enhance and build entrepreneurial capabilities among women entrepreneurs.

The "Foundation Program in Entrepreneurship" is for those looking to enter the entrepreneurial space, and the "Advanced Program in Entrepreneurship" is for those looking to scale up their businesses. Aspiring women entrepreneurs can select between these two programmes based on their current careers and skill sets.

The four-month programmes will feature presentations on entrepreneurship, discussions, lectures, and mentoring from different subject matter experts.

Rekha Sharma, the chair of the National Commission for Women, stated that the commission has always worked to ensure that women have equal opportunity in all areas of life.

“As economic independence is a key factor in women's empowerment, the Commission strives to provide women access to knowledge and skills they need to grow and sustain their businesses. Our goal is to help women develop the skills and perspectives needed to start and run sustainable businesses and contribute to the society,” said Sharma.

The Foundation programme seeks to cultivate both the managerial and entrepreneurial skills necessary to successfully launch and manage an organisation. The Advanced programme teaches participants how to hone their business models, broaden their markets, obtain funding, and diversify their goods and services.

The Foundation programme will have 60 hours of instruction, including 40 hours of subject-specific instruction and 20 hours of mentoring and question-and-answer sessions, while the Advanced programme will have 60 hours of instruction, including 20 hours of subject-specific instruction and 40 hours of mentoring and question-and-answer sessions.

Both English and Malayalam will be used for the training and courses. Until August 16th, 2022, women who are interested in participating in the programme can register online at https://innovateindia.mygov.in/entrepreneurship-program-for-women/.
