Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Astroturf Hockey Stadium witnessed a thrilling final performance by the Indian Women’s Hockey Team as they won over rival Japan 4-0. With the spectacular win, India won the ongoing Jharkhand Women’s Asian Champions Trophy 2023.
the Indian side was goals being scored by Sangita Kumari (17′), Neha (46′), Lalremsiami (57′), and Vandana Katariya (60′).
Hockey India has declared a reward of INR Three Lakhs for each member of the Indian Women’s Hockey Team and INR One and a half Lakhs for each member of the support staff.
India showcased an assertive strategy from the very beginning and built ample pressure to challenge the reigning champion team of Japan. Deepika moved to create an early goal by positioning herself well, but her efforts were stopped by Japan’s goalkeeper Eika Nakamura.
At the end of the first quarter, the score remained level.
In the 17th minute, Sangita Kumari scored the game’s first goal and put India in a lead. This also motivated Japan to move on the offensive and launch counterattacks.
Japan went on to earn three consecutive penalty corners, but could not convert any of them into a goal owing to India’s strong defense. As half-time approached, India maintained its 1-0 lead.
The third quarter of the match saw India playing on the offensive, but Japan’s commendable defense squashed India’s attempts to score a goal.
As the game moved into the final quarter, India secured three consecutive penalty corners. The third attempt became successful as Neha (46′) deflected the ball into the net, making India’s score 2-0.
In the very last few minutes Lalremsiami (57′) delivered a goal via a penalty corner and Vandana Katariya (60′) scored a field goal, bringing India’s score up to 4-0 and securing their spectacular win.
