According to a research, the number of Indian women seeking for employment that allow them to work from home has increased by two times.

Professional networking site apna.co reports that the number of female members has increased by 132% since last year, with the majority of them searching for remote employment opportunities.

“The flexibility and the convenience brought by remote working has the potential to inspire more professionals to join the workforce, further accelerating the economic engine of the country,” Manas Singh, Chief Business Officer, apna.co, said in a statement.

“apna.co is committed to bringing Prime Minister’s vision of making India a global leader to and will continue being a partner in writing India’s growth story,” he added.

Less travel time is the main driver of more women seeking work-from-home jobs that offer flexible hours so they may manage family responsibilities and pursue additional sources of income from home, such as tuition or childcare.

According to a recent International Labour Organization (ILO) research, a sizable percentage of women often indicated being willing to accept jobs if they were offered near their homes.

According to the ILO research, 34% of Indian women in rural regions and 28% of those in urban areas were open to working from home.

The most sought-after work from home positions include BPO positions like telemarketing or telesales, computer, data entry operators, executive roles like business development, back office, admins, and office assistants, academic positions like teachers and tutors, and roles related to finance, accounting, and marketing.

The most applications for work-from-home positions have been received in cities like Hyderabad, Pune, Lucknow, Patna, and Jaipur, in addition to metro areas like Delhi-NCR, Chennai, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata.
